Its 22-year-old crest was designed before smartphones, and it could no longer carry the brand as shrinking TV rights put more weight on merchandise, digital and global reach. The club-led 2026 identity modernizes the badge by drawing on its own graphic history rather than breaking from it, aiming to keep the club anchored in Marseille and carried by its supporters.
